Why is respiration considered as exothermic process?

Answer :

For the survival of any living beings energy is needed. We get energy from the food we eat.. During digestion, food is broken down into simpler substances. For example, rice, potatoes and bread contains carbohydrates. These carbohydrates are broken down to form glucose. This glucose combines with oxygen in the cells of our body and provides energy. This reaction is known as respiration. As the energy formed during respiration exerts heat, due to this reason respiration is a exothermic process. \( C_{6}H_{12}O_{6}{(aq)} + 6O_{2}{(aq)}\rightarrow 6CO_{2}{(l)}+6H_{2}O{(l)}+energy \)
