10.Solve the equation 14y – 8 = 13.

Answer :

Here,we have 14y – 8 = 13

\(\Rightarrow\) 14y – 8 + 8 = 13 + 8 (adding 8 to both sides)

\(\Rightarrow\) 14y = 21

\(\Rightarrow\) 14y ÷ 14 = 21 ÷ 14 (dividing both sides by 14)

\(\Rightarrow\) y =\(\frac { 21 }{ 14 }\)

\(\Rightarrow\)y = \(\frac { 3 }{ 2 }\)

Thus, y = \(\frac { 3 }{ 2 }\) is the required solution.

Check:

Keepy = \(\frac { 3 }{ 2 }\) in the given solution

L.H.S=\(14y-8=14×\frac{3}{2}-8=7×3-8=21-8=13\)=R.H.S

Hence y = \(\frac { 3 }{ 2 }\) is the required solution.
