Let the number of ₹ 100, ₹ 50 and ₹10 notes be 2x, 3x and 5x respectively as per the given ratio.
Converting all the denominations into rupees, we have
2x ×100, 3x × 50 and 5x × 10 i.e. 200x, 150x and 50x
As per the conditions given in the question, we have
200x + 150x + 50x = 4,00,000
\(\Rightarrow\) 400x = 4,00,000
\(\Rightarrow\) x = 4,00,000 ÷ 400 (transposing 400 to RHS)
\(\Rightarrow\) x = 1,000
Hence, the required number of notes of
₹ 100 notes = 2×1000 = 2000
₹ 50 notes = 3 × 1000 = 3000
and ₹ 10 notes = 5 ×1000 = 5000
