Q.1 List five rational numbers between:
(i) -1 and 0
(ii) -2 and -1
(iii)\(\frac{-4}{5} \) and \(\frac{-2}{3} \)
(iv) \(\frac{1}{2} \) and \(\frac{2}{3} \)

Answer :

(i) The five rational numbers between -1 and 0 are,
-1< \(\frac{-1}{2} \) < \(\frac{-3}{4} \) < \(\frac{-4}{5} \) < \(\frac{-1}{3} \) < \(\frac{-1}{5} \) < 0< br> (ii) The five rational numbers between -2 and -1 are,
-2 < \(\frac{-9}{8} \) , \(\frac{-9}{7} \) , \(\frac{-9}{6} \) , \(\frac{-8}{5} \) , \(\frac{-4}{3} \) < -1
(iii) The five rational numbers between -4/5 and -2/3 are,
-4/5= \(\frac{-4×6}{5×6} \) = \(\frac{-24}{30} \)
-2/3 = \(\frac{-2×10}{3×10} \) = \(\frac{-20}{30} \)
-4/5 < (-21/30) , (-22/30) , (-23/30) , (-16/15) , (-17/16) <-2/3
(iv) The five rational numbers between -1/2 and 2/3 are,
-1/2 < (-1/6) < (0) < (1/3) < (1/2) < (20/36) < 2/3
