Q.7 \(\triangle \) ABC is right angled at A. AD is perpendicular to BC. If AB = 5 cm, BC = 13 cm and AC = 12 cm, find the area of\(\triangle \)ABC. Also find the length of AD.

Area of triangle = \(\frac{1}{2} \) × base ×height

\(\therefore \) \(\frac{1}{2} \) ×AB×AC = \(\frac{1}{2} \)×BC×AD

Or, \(\frac{1}{2} \)× 5 ×12 = \(\frac{1}{2} \)×13×AD

Or, AD = \(\frac{60}{13} \) = 4.62 cm
