A train starting from a railway station and moving with uniform acceleration attains a speed 40 km h–1 in 10 minutes. Find its acceleration.

Answer :

Given, initial velocity of train(u) = 0 m/s
{ As the train starts from rest}

final velocity(v) = 40 km h–1 = \( 40 \) ×\( 5 \over 18 \) = \( 11.11 \) m/s

Time taken(t) = 10 min \( = \ 10 × 60 \ = \ 600 \) s

So, a = \( v - u \over t \) = \( 11.11 - 0 \over 600 \) = \( 0.0185 \ m/s^2 \)
