For any substance, why does the temperature remain constant during the change of state?

Answer :

When a substance is supplied with heat, this heat is accepted as latent heat which is used to overcome the intermolecular forces.

During the change of state the latent heat is supplied as heat to the substance which is used to break the forces of attraction between the molecules or particles as a result of which there is no heat left which can increase the temperature of the substance and thus the temperature remains constant.

When more heat is supplied then this heat is used to rise the temperature of the substance.
